Alberta Research Institutions to Launch Powerful Computing Resources
Compute Canada / WestGrid to Launch Powerful Computing Resources at Alberta Institutions
Calgary, AB (Wednesday, March 28, 2012) – More than 100 members of Alberta’s academic, government and innovation sectors will gather on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 for an Alberta-wide launch of powerful computing and data storage resources that will support the next generation of leading-edge Canadian research.
As part of the launch, five Alberta research institutions -- Athabasca University, the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, the University of Lethbridge and The Banff Centre -- will connect via videoconference to share remarks from key partners in the investment, as well as host local facility tours and equipment demonstrations. The new resources include high performance computers, data storage resources, and collaboration facility upgrades, and will support the development of new applications and research discoveries in the sciences, engineering, medicine, arts and humanities.
